Help!! I found a pet…

If you find a stray/lost cat, there are some steps you should take to try and reunite this cat with their owners. Click Here for the difference between Stray and Feral cats.

  1. Report the cat as found to your county Animal Control.

  2. Take a photo or video of the found cat. Share this on local community Facebook groups, Nextdoor, and Pawboost. Be sure to include cross roads found & a photo/video.

  3. If you have a spare room, garage space, or dog cage - consider allowing the cat to stay with you till you can locate the owners or a rescue to help. Remember - even friendly cats can get scared and act out or harm you while being picked up or confined. Be smart and safe, and use a live trap if needed.

  4. Take the cat in to any vet or shelter to be scanned for a microchip. Many Lansing pet stores can too, click here for more info.

  5. Post and pass out paper fliers locally - many people aren’t on social media!
